An estate continuing for successive periods of a year, or successive periods of a fraction of a year, unless it is terminated. Pitney-Bowes Postage Meter Co. v. United States, D.C.Conn., 57 F.Supp. 365, 366. Also called "tenancy from period to period"; or "periodic estate"
